Back with another before and after! This is from a session with Cellist Mariel Gonzalez!
Not going to lie this was a tough one to retouch. The studio rented while big in size didn’t have any large scale backdrops or clean walls. Not ideal at all and I’m not entirely sure the approach to setting up a studio space like that but not my circus not my monkey.
Anyway, on the right, is the photo unretouched. The only thing done to it was some toning to even skin tones so Mariel could proof it and approve it as a final image.
There was a lot of post work to be done. The stairs needed to be cleaned up, the woods weren’t working together between the floor and the cello, the backdrop (which was a V Flat pulled off a wall) wasn’t evenly lit or coloured. Normally I try and get things close in camera but that wasn’t an option in this small shooting space.
This edit took about an hour total from start to finish. Which isn’t terrible for one image.
